I'm from ROK and think that we should disband the USFK and UNC, withdraw all US troops, immediately halt all joint exercise training events, and normalize relationships with the DPRK. Let's just accept one another as sovereign states.

Neither Korean state has the capability to absorb and unify the other. ROK has no leverage over the DPRK and will never unify Korea on its terms.

The US should close all its bases. Then it, Russia, and China should all concurrently scrap every nuclear weapon and the technology to create them as a sign of goodwill, which would improve the chance of DPRK eventually eliminating its own nuclear arsenal.

The way things stand, the US will keep spending more on war. Russia and China will respond in kind, and DPRK will also do the same because it wants to be militarily strong enough not to get dragged into great power competition.

Global denuclearization and closing all US overseas bases is the only way this ends.

Of course, the ROK has no way to induce the US into doing any of this. Not that average person here has the foggiest idea about any of this.

In fact, the Seoul elite are the most propagandized in the country compared to people in the provinces, who are generally nicer and more willing to listen

So now South Korea is the latest US proxy to enter the frey.

DPRK has a mutual defense treaty with the RF that requires them to provide each other military assistance in case of invasion and it is pretty obvious that the RF has been invaded by Ukraine. Note also that long as Korea-south is occupied by the USA and UN forces the DPRK is also "technically" invaded as it claims the whole korean peninsula. The treaty says:

“In case any one of the two sides is put in a state of war by an armed invasion from an individual state or several states, the other side shall provide military and other assistance with all means in its possession without delay in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and the laws of the DPRK and the Russian Federation.”

There is no "Article 51" treaty (yet) between ROK and the ukrainian government, and the ROK airplanes are in Romania, not in Ukraine itself, so if they attacked RF forces the RF could legitimately consider itself by Romania, and NATO will never risk that, except for one case: when they are sure the RF government is about to be regime-changed and a fight with a NATO member is needed to trigger the regime-change operation.

If it is true that SK have sent so many pilots to Romania

The prime purpose or result will be to encourage NK in their beliefs about the SK, that indeed they are so submissive to US control as to desert their frontline in favour of a useless expedition

And so that they are weaker than ever

- should SK continue in this sense - it will encourage NK to poke and provoke until SK realise that it's time to stop messing around in Europe

If they do not the US will have succeeded in further developing another proxy war

Thank you for the fascinating investigation on the participation of South Korea in the war in Ukraine. I have no doubt that South Korean F-16 pilots, mechanics and other support personnel have been secretly sent to Romania and are being integrated into NATO (US) operations in Ukraine. As part of a future conflict with China, NATO (US) is "experimenting" with various weapons systems in Ukraine, but of course they would not risk the lives of any US F-16 pilots, they are using the pilots of one of their most dedicated proxies in the Asia-Pacific region. This also explains the huge fake news Western mainstream media campaign about North Korean soldiers in Russia.

Maybe the North Koreans will fight the South Koreans in Ukraine. Could Iranians fight Israelis there as well 🤣

Is South Korea really that dumb?

yes she is that... d u m b

It is not a question of being dumb, it is a question of who holds the power. South Korea was captured politically and militarily by the US more than 70 years ago and they have proved a very disciplined puppet since then. Perhaps even more so than Ukraine, actually.

Brilliant piece of war reporting not seen/read or heard in the west. South Korea has been involved since the very start of this crisis and at the same time need the cheap energy from Russia. If their pilots think this is like fighting in the Korean war they are in for a surprise. Unfortunately in Ukraine the Whole West has been fighting Russia even before the SMO began. Projection once again reporting that the DPRK troops are going to be fighting in Ukraine whilst quietly behind the scenes the South Koreans are actually getting involved. Desperation is setting in and a declining empire is most dangerous going down and capable of taking even more dangerous actions. The security council in Russia must be fully aware of this and may have already planned their military combat plans accordingly.

I'm feeling very much the same: the naked desperation of the declining empire is on display, and that comes along with a dangerously reckless attitude. Because, from the standpoint of the imperial leaders, everything is at stake. The whole pot is on the table, to win or to lose. And for the first time in history, the empire has the means to destroy humanity. Interesting times!

Whats the S K president bitchin about - he has 30,000 US troops in his country and his off shore acct is full. I remember the ROKs in Nam - best to sink their ships or down their planes before they make it to Poland. I aan into a young S K in Istanbul and he put his 3 years in the Rok army - This was his first trip outside Korea and we were talking at a kafe, -- he thought { was Taught} that Russia was still Communist. I enlightened him and told him to ask other people about Russia as he travels. These US vassals are terribly brainwashed.

"How, under these conditions, the British managed to prepare 200 pilots for Ukraine in a little over a year is a big mystery. Either the British have accomplished a feat, or they are openly lying. Decide for yourself."

Quite in the report below (from British Forces news) Ukrainians are shown pasing out after passing their course. But listen to the details and this is just the first course, the priority has been on teaching them English(!!!) and they are actually shown flying Propellor driven training planes. Years away.

South Korean pilots explain both this and the ridiculous Nk soldier reports everywhere.

Frankly bluffing the western world that there is no particular risk in introducing SK pilots to the war by lying achieves nothing because it won't fool Russka. Once again maintaining credibility in western military is the main goal, controlling risk is not.

As the plot unfolds, it is becoming evident that the Americans are really the ones behind the rumors and imputations that North Korean troops are fighting in Ukraine. Zelensky, Budanov et al were simply used as cut-outs to initially launder the lies which is then immediately picked up and spread as fact by the western media. Finally the Pentagon and the White House give it the veneer of credibility. Like their fellow Ukrainian vassals, the South Koreans are marching blindingly into a disaster as their F-16s are no match for Russian air defense. Inevitably they will escalate bleeding their own defenses. Way to go South Korea.

"Inevitably they will escalate bleeding their own defenses..", I don't see that as a problem. If the South Koreans are silly enough to go to the other side of the world to fly some old airframe more fools them. The occupation by the US of S.Korea is like their occupation of Japan where local populations suffer Stockholm Syndrome. And then not all Japanese or Koreans are happy with the occupation or US bases.

South Koreans are exactly as Mr. Khairullin described them. I would also add another widespread characteristic among the South Koreans; Corruption! South Koreans will probably be the next proxy to fight and die for the USA. Ukraine would be rather a (real) training ground for them before they are sent as cannon fodders to fight the North Koreans and/or the Chinese. Nevertheless, if they are sent to Ukraine, no matter how combat ready they are, they won't last long against the RuAF and Russian AD anyway.
