Mostly. Place names are hard for me. Even where I live I can't seem to care at all about the names of towns around me. The difference between Gulayiapole and Hulyiapole whether in Latin or Cyrillic is hardly germane to physical fact of control in my world view. I like to read patronymics though. Something quite charming about them. I took Russian classes in high school. I wish I'd paid more attention. If I weren't so old I'd take President Putin up on his offer to leave the degenerate west and try to get some land in Kamchatka.

I voted for using the Russian spelling. The way I see it, might as well get used to it because it's going to be Russian territory anyway. And, I'm glad of that hoped-for eventuality because as far as I'm concerned those moral monsters occupying KIEV need to be boxed up and put in cold storage for the rest of their days. Criminals and thugs that they are.

If you're talking about Russian vs Ukrainian variations of same place-names "sounded out" in English letters? Go with the Russian version of that, IMO

As far as I'm concerned, make the spelling between the text and map equal. Doesn't matter too much which one of the two are used (Russian or Ukrainian), as long as they're the same.

Off topic, but important. US media is pushing story Trump & Putin spoke on phone last Thursday. Seemed odd as there was no word from Trump people. Has Peskov announced any such talk? Still working on Cyrillic alphabet. PS. For all the Russians who died in WW1, we remember you today - the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Having had one semester of college Russian 40+ years ago, I can generally sound out the Cyrillic names. Just don't ask me to read a menu...

As a westerner I am ignorant of the Russian language. Latin spellings are helpful.

Being fully behind Russia & it's aims, I'll go with whatever the authorities think is best. I can't argue with their ways up to now.

Using Google Earth/Maps; use Cyrillic and Latin alphabets, but use Ukrainian names, for example Mykolaiv instead of Николаев; just need to do some cross referencing.

I have no opinion either way. Do what's easiest/best for you.

Please continue to use both

Or maybe coordinates for anything which might benefit from a look at satellite imagery.

Do what you're doing now, imo.

It might be helpful for linguistic translation to add both the Latin version for the new Russian names, and the Russian version for the old Ukie names, but that would be more text and work too.

People get easily confused until they get used to a system, I wouldn't sweat it. They'll figure it out if they want to.

Edit: a numbering system might be useful.
