Excellent article, as always. But reading today about “bombing Ukies out of existence in 24 hours” clearly smacks of the underestimation of the enemy. No, I am not defending the panicked posts in TG or Military Summary channel, but AFU are a dangerous and experienced enemy, that we all should always keep in mind.

Is it so stupid to put themselves at artillery strike distance of a Russian nuclear power plant, therefore neutralizing it as long as they can handle their position? It would not be the first time they bomb a power plant, alas.

I meant "... a NUCLEAR power plant", of course. An by "they", I meant Ukrie of course, the only guys dumb enough to do so.

Quite - you run a distraction campaign when you have far superior resources but are struggling to advance in one particular area where you opponent has a concentrated defence. The SMO in the north when the challenge was the deep dug in positions targeting civilians from outside Donbas is an example.

Russia has been preparing for a full scale Nato intervention (not as in expecting it but in fully preventing it by making it clear it would lose). A Ukrainian attack on Russia is bizarre.

We've been hearing similar cope for over two years now.

Makes me think of what Patton said, during Wacht am Rhein : "The Krauts have stuck their head in the meatgrinder, and it's for me to crank the handle". Seriously, what did the Ukrops expect, trying a "surprise" attack at Kursk? Last time this was attempted did not work preciseley well...

No reason the usual logic does not also apply here: provoke an escalation in hope of being rescued by NATO sponsors. Also the need to do complicated things to make money disappear is a real factor. All the same, it is not a pleasant experience for residents of the towns and villages that are affected.
